Registration & Profile

I keep being asked to register again after signing up. Why?

Your account is most likely not confirmed yet. Please open the confirmation link in the email (subject: “🔐 Account confirmation”) fully in your browser. After that, you should be able to log in.

I didn’t receive a confirmation email.

Please check your spam folder. In rare cases, our emails may be blocked. If you can’t find the message, we can activate your account manually. Just send us a quick note.

I can’t edit or save my profile.

The “Save changes” button only becomes active once you’ve actually updated something. Also make sure you log in using the full link from the password email. It contains a code that identifies your account.

Sign up & Login

I can’t log in anymore. What can I do?

Reset your password using this link: sprachtandem.ch/en/password/forgot. You’ll receive an email with a link that lets you set a new password. Open the full link in your browser, then log in here: sprachtandem.ch/en/login.

I still can’t log in even after changing my password.

Check whether your password manager might be filling in an old password. Try logging in on another device or start the password reset process again. If it still doesn’t work, we can delete your account so you can register again if you wish.

Chats & Contacts

Where can I find the profiles I saved?

You can find your saved profiles under “Contacts”.

How can I delete messages?

Deleting individual messages or chats is currently not possible. However, you can remove or block contacts.

Can I delete or hide contacts?

You can remove saved contacts, but chats cannot be deleted at the moment.

Subscriptions & Payments

How can I cancel my subscription?

Go to your profile under “Subscription” and click “Manage subscription”. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current period and will not renew afterwards.

I cancelled my subscription, but it was charged again.

If you’re having issues with your subscription, feel free to contact us at [email protected]. We’ll do our best to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

How long do the subscriptions run and how can I cancel mine?

Your subscription renews automatically, but you can cancel it at any time until the end of the current period. You can find an overview under “Subscriptions”. In your profile under the subscription settings, you can cancel your subscription.

Account & Privacy

How do I delete my account?

In your account settings, you’ll find the “Delete account” button at the bottom. Please note: deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone.

I no longer have access to my old email account. How can I delete or transfer my Sprachtandem account?

To safely delete or transfer your account, we need a few details to verify your identity. Please send us an email at [email protected].

How it works

How can I find tandem partners near me?

In the tandem search, you can filter by city or postal code and select “Meet in person”.

Can I filter for native speakers only?

We can’t verify whether a listed language is actually someone’s native language. It’s best to ask directly when you first get in touch.

Which tools work well for online meetings?

Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Skype all work well. They’re free and easy to use.

Am I allowed to charge money for language lessons or meetings on Sprachtandem.ch?

No. Sprachtandem is a platform for free language exchange. It is not allowed to charge or offer money for language lessons, courses or tandem meetings on the website. Profiles that violate this rule may be suspended or deleted.

General Questions

Does Sprachtandem offer its own language courses?

No. Sprachtandem connects people in Switzerland who want to learn languages together, but we don’t offer courses ourselves. If you’re looking for language schools, you can find recommendations in this blog post.

How much does Sprachtandem cost?

You can use Sprachtandem for free or choose a subscription with additional features. You can find all options under “Subscriptions”.
